Treatment and support options and employment advice

Canberra offers a range of different treatment and support services for people related to alcohol, tobacco and other drugs. These include (but are not limited to) rehabilitation, withdrawal, supported accommodation, needle exchange, pharmacotherapy, peer support, self-help, information and education. Carers are also able to access counselling services and support groups to assist them in their caring role. For example:

  • Directions offers individual counselling and support groups for family members and other people affected by someone else's drug and alcohol use. For more information phone 6132 4800 or visit http://www.directionsact.com/programs
  • Family Drug Support offers support meetings and training for families affected by drug and alcohol dependencies. For more information phone the 24 Hour Support Line on 1300 368 186 or visit http://www.fds.org.au
